This week as go-fer I celebrated my tenth anniversary of summer camp at Lakeside Bible Camp. It therefore also marks ten years since recommitting my life to Christ. I've written previously about how much camp has impacted me on so many levels, but being up there this week was such a wonderful reminder of what a special place camp is. As students shared their stories of renewal and redemption during chapel, I was reminded of what it feels like in those years of teenager-dom, and what an encouragement it is to take a week out of your routine to focus on your relationship with the Lord, make incredible friendships, and laugh constantly.
Ten years....so many memories fill every space of that camp for me. It's an odd feeling to sit on the dock or deck outside the dinning hall and remember where I was emotionally and spiritually three, seven, or ten years ago....my cares then compared to my cares now, who I was then compared to now. It's a full-circle experience for me, thinking (and usually chuckling) fondly of the past but being thankful I am not the same. Recognizing maturity, growth, progress...those full-circle moments serve as testaments to me of how God promised to make me new, and will continue to change me each day to bring me closer to Him. He's got an insatiable love for us, and he won't stop pursuing us. Ever.
Now that, my friends, is Crazy Stupid Love.
