Firstly, I will be on staff at Lakeside Bible Camp this summer! I've always known I wanted to do it since I've been going to camp and this year I really felt like it was where God wanted me to be. After a month and a half of waiting, I heard back on thursday! I was in the library--otherwise, I would've done a "STEVE HOLT!" right there.
I'm assuming I will be first aid, which was my first choice. I'm excited for the flexibility of the job and also the direct contact with campers (who also tend to be the whiners or ones who just need friends). I'm trying not to dream about it too much--I still have 6 mores weeks of school!--but I am already anticipating early morning quiet times by the lake, pranks, laughter, and late night cereal parties with camp legends. Ahhh, 11 weeks at camp with great friends. Cannot wait!
Secondly, I got into Umin, a house run through the INN, a college ministry of UPC. Basically they have a house for 11 female students seeking Christian community and involvement in the INN. Originally me and 4 UCU girls were going to move out together, but two are transferring and one decided she wanted to stay at UCU. I was up for either staying at UCU or UMin, but in the end I thought it was time to try something new--a new group of girls, more interactions with other christian communities, and more independence (i'll be cooking for myself!). Plus, its cheaper, and to top it off, I will be house manager, which will also be my role on student leadership. This is awesome because I didnt feel like I was being called to any other ministry in the INN for next year. Basically I will be in charge of facilitating meetings, encouraging community, dealing with conflicts, and house maintenance. Plus it has some perks.
Here's the google maps view of it....i was too lazy to go out and take a picture.
I was worried about leaving the community I've called home and family for the past two years, but the good thing is...its only two houses down from UCU! So as long as I'm intentional with those relationships, they wont be going anywhere! I will be missing the big screen tv to my disposal though....no matter.
Yay for new opportunities!

Congratulations on becoming the house manager for UMin, I know that living at UCU all 4 years isn't for everybody, I nearly moved out last year.
Hooray for Staff!
